I took this futon frame apart a year ago and now I can't seem to figure out how to get it to lock in either sitting or flat (laying down) position. I'm pretty sure it was not damaged when I moved it. As this is my girlfriend's college futon that has a lot of sentimental value. I would appreciate any help that you could give me. Thanks!

Hi krislk:

This looks like a metal mechanism that has been either bent or twisted in some way. These inexpensive hinges do blow out regularly.

Carefully (you don't want to loose or cut a finger) view the way the mechanism opens and closes and you should see a spot where one arm has been bent so it prevents another arm from moving by. Use a long, sturdy screwdriver to pry the arms apart so they can slide by each other.

This should solve the problem for a while. Unfortunately these mechanisms bend and break easily.
