Former Simmons VP Joins Verlo as President of Retail Arm
Ron Passaglia, a mattress industry veteran (26 years with Simmons) has recently taken on a major position with VyMac Corporation as President of Vymac's "Verlo Mattress Factory Stores" retail operation.
In a recent interview (parts of which will appear in the upcoming Summer issue of Futon Life) Passaglia stated, "As I looked at the current state of affairs regarding mattress retail channel distribution, and where the future growth would come from (when you consider what consumers are looking for… value, service and all the other issues too…) it begged the question, who is going to be the next purveyor to service this customer? Will it be the larger corporations, specialty sleep shops, etc.? I concluded and really believe that Verlo has what it takes to meet this need."
Passaglia pointed to Verlo’s nimbleness, growth mode culture, brand positioning, operating systems, and management teams as the key factors in his making this decision. "This is very exciting. Dave Young and his management team have been looking at themselves internally for two or three years. They are a focused, energetic and entrepreneurial group that has the discipline to develop the systems and get the platform ready to go after this consumer. When I added it all up, what’s happening in the industry, the team and systems that are in place at Verlo, I made the decision."
Passaglia starts at Verlo Monday, June 5th.
